I’m back after several days (er, weeks!!!) of absence, to present you the latest of this summer: a crochet bikini! I haven’t been around much lately and haven’t crocheted or knitted too much except for the We are knitters Cardigan and this bikini, as I’m sure you’ve seen on my Instagram account.

I’ve been wanting to try making a bikini for a while. I had tried two years ago but turned it into a crochet top. This time I followed a different diagram. Actually, I followed one diagram for the top and another for the bottom. Then I tweaked it to finish it.I finally finished it, just in time to enjoy the end of summer!

For the yarn, I preferred to use cotton, faster to dry. I used what I had in stock, cotton natura yarn from DMC: 1 ball in Orquidea color and 1 ball in Moss Green color (you can find these colors at Rascol). I really like crocheting this yarn, it is very pleasant and of very good quality. We’ll see what it gives on the length for a jersey … but I think I will not have any bad surprise.all crocheted with the love hook from Clover size 3. A little thin, but I think it’s nicer to crochet small for this kind of work.

I didn’t want to take a picture of myself with the bikini out of modesty, I hope you’ll understand 🙂

I found the diagrams on Pinterest:

I followed the instructions by doing the last row in green and the rest in purple. I did it 2 times and then sewed a seam in the middle to attach them. Finally, I crocheted 4 strips: 2 for the top of the triangle and 2 for the sides. I went up 3 stitches directly on the triangle by lifting 3 stitches and then bridled until I got the length I liked.

THE BOTTOM

I also followed it, changing the color when I felt like it, then I added the bands, as for the top.Once worn, it is a bit open tanga style.

Then I tucked in the threads and the crochet bikini was done! It’s really simple and quick to make.for the size, I advise you to do like me and try as you go, and add or remove rows according to your size. I regret that I crocheted a little too much for the top… (#teampetitstétés)For the bottom, it will be necessary to tighten well not to have the side of the buttocks loose… As you can notice on the bottom, we crochet in half moon so the more we go up the more it is round, and personally, when I do not tighten enough, we see my butt crack… (#sexy hahaha) You can sew a little cotton fabric at the bottom to be more hygienic.
